SkyNet: Burning Chrome – After Action Report
Friday 24-Apr-2009 1600 Hours
Arrived at field along with Destro, Herzog, Reverend Pain, and GalacticCoalesce (GC for short). We signed in with the field and found out where we needed to camp. We were camping next to X7 Town and would have a good view of the field during our stay. Setup went without any incidents and we met up with Outlaw from Shadow Group. He was also camping at our site with us. After everyone was setup, we grabbed a few maps and began to walk the field. I wanted to make sure I know the full layout of the field in order to command the troops more effectively.
Friday 24-Apr-2009 1800 Hours
Met with Kevin from Adventure Beach and Tom from Shadow Group. We discussed any last minute things that I needed to know for the following day. As usual, Adventure Beach was a great host and thanked us for coming to the event. Soon after we got back, Lefty, WizKid, Waffles and Syrup arrived at the field. Waffles would be one of my Executive Officers for the event and Destro wold be the other.
The team then met back at the camp site and decided what we were doing for dinner. The decision was to eat cheese burgers, rice, and chips. We went to the store, got the stuff, and cooked. I want to thank Outlaw for the help cooking!

After dinner the team sat around and talked about the next day. It was determined that WizKid would be the terminator for the first part of the day. His age and size would make him look like a standard walk-on player and help him insert with the other young kids the Moose had on the Human side. His job would be to infiltrate the enemy camp and terminate the general (John Conner). At first I was a little apprehensive on letting him do this on his own, but as I found out, he took the assignment well and did a great job. We had the Human General (Moose) from Wolf Creek Paintball come by and talk with us. We also had many other Cyborg players come by and introduce themselves. The rest of the night was uneventful, except for everyone talking for about 1 hr after we all hit our tents.
Saturday 25-Apr-2009 0530 Hours
I awoke to the sound of Destro rummaging around the camp. I got up and we decided to wake the other troops at 0600 hours. Destro wanted to yell (Drill Instructor style) at them to get them up. I tried for a less subtle approach (or more subtle, depending on your view) by playing Slyer through the portable speakers at the camp site. That may not have been the best idea, but it got everyone up. Everyone spent the morning getting ready and we were chrono’d and ready for the safety briefing. During that time, WizKid stayed in Lefty’s vehicle to hide from everyone.
After the safety briefing, we all gathered our gear and met at the CP. I already had my maps (thanks Lefty) and radios ready to go. We divided the team into 3 main forces. One lead by Port City Militia, one by Tango Alpha, and the other by the Carolina Sabers. This way, I would be able to place smaller teams and walk-on players with more experienced players and give them the motivation that they needed.
The game started and I sent Tango Alpha to the right side of the field (they remained there pretty much all day). I sent PCM to the left side of the field because they wanted to ‘screw stuff up’. I found out that is exactly what they do the best. The Sabers went up the middle and were ordered to flip all the control point flags as they moved forward. This setup a primary skirmish line and allowed the team to have the majority of the forces forward in battle and not worrying about flipping base flags.
Right after game on, I was handed our first mission. We were to find a Power Generator. It took our team almost the entire morning to find that d**n thing! We had all teams looking for it and finally a member of Tango Alpha and the Carolina Sabers brought it back. (They also brought back another prop which they had to replace since we didn’t have a mission card yet for that). The second mission was to get the prop that we had to take back from the first mission. Destro and Lefty set out to search and find that prop and brought it back. We promptly hid that prop as well as the Power Generator so incase of a base attack , the Humans could not take back these items. I was told by intel that they could be used to create an EMP pulse and from the previous game, we learned that EMP = bad!!!
The rest of the morning was done running a few more missions and capturing points. We would get a force up and the humans would fight against our lines. As that fighting was taking place, a small squad of humans would infiltrate and then take back points behind our lines. They would change the flags and leave, and our team would just go back behind them and change the flags back. While all this was happening, I noticed a helicopter from the enemy camp coming directly into the perimeter of our base. We rallied the troops to defend and repelled the attackers. After the attack, I learned that the leader of the helicopter mission was WizKid! I was a little upset. What I found out about an hour later, was that he ran that mission and another mission for the Humans to gain their trust. After that, he ended up terminating the general! I was very impressed. I also found that the Human General was also impressed! Shortly after that, he was discovered and came back to our CP. I decided to switch terminators after lunch. Soon after, the lunch break was taken and everyone took a break and got food.
Saturday 25-Apr-2009 1400 Hours
After lunch, we gathered back at the CP. I have to say that the teams on the Cyborg side were ready to play at the start of the afternoon session. When the game started, all the teams moved quickly to take the same positions that they left the field with. That was kind of hard since the field was shortened because of the heat (good call by Tom BTW). The Human’s CP was now the Pyramid (or Burbank). Within 20 minutes, our side had moved back to where they were before lunch and pushing further forward! I was very happy and impressed at the same time. We waited on sending our terminator out, but Waffles was out on the field and causing havoc. He was radioing in intelligence all afternoon to Destro and myself in the CP.
We ended up running more missions. One of which was to retrieve batteries for a power source. Lefty and some of the members from other teams (I can’t remember which) ran back two batteries within the time frame! These were real batteries and were heavy as hell. Great job to the people on that mission. We sent our Female Terminator out on the field after Lefty fabricated a marking device (a white sticker) on the mask. This was a good way that Moose tried to keep Terminators out of his camp. The one problem was that WizKid relayed that information back to us and we were able to copy that item to help us out. Syrup (our terminator) was able to assassinate the Human General again! At this time, I know Moose was getting frustrated.
We then received a mission that told us to retrieve a ‘Transport’ van in the middle of the field. Both the Carolina Sabers and Tango Alpha reached the transport and started fighting with the Humans over it. I had to have them send one of their troops back to the CP to retrieve a battery that we recovered from the earlier mission. Wingman and some other troops rushed to get the battery back to the van with enough time to get the transport on our side. Once we received the transport, we were able to run missions with it. I attempted to run a recovery mission with it and as soon as I did, the team that went out got destroyed with the transport. The humans repaired and recovered the transport and used it to attack our base continuously for the next hour. Thanks to Jitspoe and Herzog, we destroyed and rebuilt the transport as it came in for its 3rd attack against our base. I made a decision to park the transport back in our CP and not let the enemy capture it again.
The rest of the day ended with a few search and recovery missions. One of which was for a ROM chip. This chip was actually a computer video card and was hid very well. Syrup was able to lead a team and another player finally found the prop and returned it to the base. The last mission was a search for a memory Chip. That one, we never found, but the game ended while we were searching for it.
The final awards ceremony and announcements showed that the final score was tied. This leaves the final SkyNet battle to decide the fate of the world.
