A new type of scenario. BOTH a Big Game AND a Mil-Sim. The U.S. Marines side will abide by mil-sim-like Rules of Engagement (for the military minded) and the Feydeen terrorists will enjoy lesser restrictions and be free to harass and ambush the U.S. Forces. This will be the season opener for Command Decisions Wargames Center and is sure to be a monster game! Hope the graphics and marketing help draw people to the game. "Pretty" is only good if it works. So far it looks like it is from what I can tell from other forums.

Update on the scenario: Bill "Greenman" Ford, "Hitman Actual" of ODX has generously offered his services as commander to lead the U.S. Marines 1st Recon Unit rolling to Baghdad. You can contact him by PMing him at the Tango Alpha forum at teamtango.proboards80.com/index.cgi?action=pmsend&to=greenman. It looks like Team ODX is looking forward to showing off their combat and command skills and bringing the party to Saddam's door as one of the core teams of the Marines. Rough time to be a Hadji. Dave "gendirkamuhammad" Thompson of Capital Offense, out of D.C., has graciously agreed to command the Feyadeen insurgents. Contact him at teamtango.proboards80.com/index.cgi?action=pmsend&to=gendirkamuhammad. Both of these guys are experienced, strategic leaders and are sure to bring the intensity up several notches. The Hun of Recon 1 (and Rogue Cell) are also getting involved in the organization and coordination of the Feyadeen (ya gotta love that Axis of Evil) and we are overjoyed to have all these guys leading the charge into battle for our first scenario. Allah likes his bad boys! Planning Forums - They are kicking in gear on the planning forums and as soon as you are confirmed pre-registered, they can get you the passwords. Planning forums are at: teamtango.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=eventsRegistrations are coming in hot and heavy and we are even pulling out-of-state players for a one day event, which is somewhat rare. To answer the question about the "side-balancing" rule (where the field director may shift players from their preferred side to the other to balance out teams), this is less likely the earlier you PRE-REGISTER, and more likely if you just walk-on, the day of the game. It may not happen at all, but all I can say is... pre-registration has its priveleges. Besides you get the really cool event patch! www.scenariosupply.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CDWC%2DGenerationKillMil-Sim Gun restrictions - A lot of people are asking about being Marines, but their marker isn't exactly mil-sim. We are not going to enforce this to the letter of the law, so to speak. Our take on this is that "It is not so important that the marker be military grade, as the player is." In other words, if you have always wanted to try a mil-sim scenario, dig on a chain of command, and wanted to yell "Hooyah!"... and your marker was the only thing holding you back, now is the time. This game isn't "pure" mil-sim but will enable you get a feel for how much fun, playing by military-style Rules of Engagement and missions can be. I am personally hooked. Once you play mil-sim, you will swap that Ego for a Tippman 98 even money! Fashion Tips - Well, the Marines are fairly limited here as they are wearing military style camo. Period. Check with Greenman about suggested patterns, etc. The Feyadeen, however can be, and should be, more creative. In Iraq, they discarded their uniforms to look more like Iraqi innocents to confuse the enemy. At times, the Marines found them half naked, trying to ditch their uniforms. (I've seen the shape some of you are in, and fully clothed will be JUST fine.)This means that while you can wear camo, head wraps; shemaghs; black or white cotton, pajama-like outfits; blue jeans; turbins, and dessert robes will help you blend in with the Iraqi citizenry. Of course, this is not required. You can find shemaghs for $8.97 at www.cheaperthandirt.com/KEY308-1.html. You can wear them around your neck or around your head. How to wrap a shemagh: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MbmazCMuZI You can even make sheik-like head gear from white or black pillow cases. Best if you don't tell your wife that this was MY suggestion. No one is supposed to shoot Iraqi civilians. Anyone can shoot a tree. Which should you dress like? Hmmm. Stay tuned at the locations below for future updates. this game really doesnt sound like it will work well to me, but i am interested to hear how it plays out Hate to hear that Fonz, but we are going to try our best to make it fun and extremely challenging for everyone. And to be honest, we are making the SNAFUS that happen in every paintball scenario (and real war) part of the challenge. Real war is messy, has communication screw ups, commanders intent on winning medals, bad intel, supply mix ups, etc. This was a big part of the book and video and happens accidentally in almost every paintball scenario I've ever seen. What we are going to do is take those twists and turns of real life and try to make this as realistic as possible AND allow the players who prefer Big Game style versus Mil-Sim style games to play what they prefer. "There is no 'fair' in war." but we will make it winnable for both sides and throw as many life like twists at them as we can. They just have to ready to be up to the challenge. It may not be for everybody, but all we can do is try and make it as realistic and fun as possible. UPDATE: ---------------------------- This is not a shameless promotion (not that I'm above that!), but a legitimate heads up. I talked to Lee Ann on Saturday (5 days ago!) and the PRE-registration is filling up quickly (over a month out, I am ecstatic to report) but this means that if... - you want the event patch for FREE,
- save yourself about $15 per person,
- get the lower registration price,
- get access to the planning forums,
- and guarantee which side your on...
those interested may want to get signed up like yesterday. We will have some extra event patches on sale at the event, but PRE-REGISTRATION saves you a total of a total of $15 for the same package and ensures that you get your side preference (according to Ferg). Doesn't matter which side you prefer, but if you want to save some cash, get a nice patch and pick your side, you may want to move quick like a bunny!
