Gather your toys and load up on paint for the fourth annual Toys For Tots charity paintball shoot-out at Adventure Beach Paintball on Dec. 4.
This annual “toy-raiser” continues to grow in size and popularity every year, according to Kevin Shimwell, owner of Adventure Beach Paintball.
“Last years event drew over 150 players with over 200 Toys collected by Adventure Beach Paintball,” Shimwell said. “This year’s event is expected to grow with the number of players climbing to over 200, maybe as high as 250.”
In addition to the toys, the weekend event also raised $400 for the Seahaven Shelter Home for Youth. To lean more about Seahaven go to
www.seahaveninc.com “We got to have some of the boys out here to play some paintball,” Shimwell said. “I think it is just great that we could give them a special experience for the holidays.”
Volunteers and donations from local business also helped to make the weekend a success, according to Shimwell.
Each player must bring an unwrapped Toy with a value of $20 or more to participate. The Toys For Tots event is a popular event among regular players and beginners.
“You bring a toy, and we provide you with a rental marker and mask,” Shimwell said. “The only thing you have to pay for is the paintballs.”
ABP will supply rental markers, Mask and Hoppers to players who do not have one.
(Note due to marker availability, markers may need to be shared among participants.)
Registration begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4. Games begin at 10: 30 and run hourly until 4 p.m. Drawings for prize will happen after the end of the last game.
“Our goal is to bring awareness to the US Marines efforts through the great cause called ‘Toys For Tots,'” Shimwell said. “We want everyone to have fun while helping make Christmas a little brighter for needy children in our area.”
Adventure Beach is located 6 miles from Hwy. 9 on Hwy. 905 near Pierway, N.C. at the NC/SC boarder (Lays Lake).
ABP encourages any business or Paintball team to help with the event.
